bobj Charter MemberThu 27-Mar-03 02:37 PMIf it's just dust, you can *carefully* blow it off with a blower but do not use "canned" air as the propellent may come out and get on the mirror. If it's more than just dust, I would suggest taking it to a local repair shop to have them take care of it. The mirror is *very* easy to scratch if you try to clean it yourself and the thin semi-silvered coatings can be rubbed off as well.
Keep in mind that the mirror is moved up out of the way when the shutter fires so any spots, while perhaps visible in the viewfinder, will not show up on your images. If they do, they aren't caused by the mirror.

Thanks Bob!
My concern was about scratching the mirror.
It soes appear to be a spot of something, tiny but annoying. I'll consider whether to live with it or take it to a local shop for cleaning. We have a few good ones here in New York.
