OK -here's the beauty...and some more samples.Paid about $1000.00 all together for this outfit...camera alone over $800.00

WOW guys - !What do you think of this camera!?
I have my replacement coming in...this would be AWESOME for a young learning photographer.!
I have it set for MAX high quality.Honestly...this was my wide P+S...to go along with my CanonS5IS...so;
I KEEP the converter on...and just zoom from 17mm to 28mm @35mm conversion.
Hey - who out there has a P+S that goes anywhere near that wide...?,even a prosumer!,even WITH a converter ??????????????

Truly,WHAT A CAMERA . !

I think if someone calls my bluff - and buys!...hope I don't cry...
This camera is me,a STRONG part of the photographer I am.

But my GH1 with 7-14mm is my new generation.

Hi Larry.

I have the 8700 model (very similar) and can't bring myself to part with it even though I never use it anymore. It is an amazing camera and shoots raw and full manual. Mine uses the en-el1 battery of which I have several all of which still work fine. I would rather have this camera than many of the new CoolPix. I also have the twist-body 4500 which uses the same battery. I keep it because it can focus on something 1/2 inch away.

JIM

Hi Jim.!
Mine is hard to get rid of too.

My 3 batteries all seem to take a full charge.

Oh - if I remember correctly - I believe my 8400 shoot raw also...I have never used it...think it does video to - never used it.

The nice thing about mine...is when that Nikon wide converter ...is over the already wide 24mm(-90mm)...it not only gives 17mm@35mm conv.;
but it has what I call an "X" factor...possably ?pincussion? look.
ie; as per a dot in the middle...then arrows pointing to each of the 4 corners....

I will sell it(let it go)though I shouldn't(I think I'll display this if it does not sell...
and as per a classic ; use occationally).

(Selling this camera is like; selling a family portrait to a stranger !!)

But,think of the blessing this camera could be ...in the right persons hands.For;
as you Jim , I (mostly) have not used this camera...in...minor-years,because of how rich I am in higher teck. cameras...

For,honestly;the final image produced with this camera...I'd give a B+ in todays results !If ya count the "X" factor...I'd have to go higher.

Thanks for your friendship,shame for there to be anything but friendship,help and goodness here(on Nikonian).!

I do think that the older digital stuff ... is starting to become classics.(Don't we all have a camera we loved,or treasured-starting out with...!?).

And a very happy day to all! , Larry

Still have my CP8400 - it's the benchmark for functionality that I base all my other P&S-style cameras on. The colors are wonderful and the images sharp with that 24-60mm FF equivalent lens.

I'm saving mine to let my kids use it when they get old enough.

I suspect the images posted by Larry say more about his abilities as a photographer, than the camera's abilities.

Nice pictures. Some are exceptional.

YES - and what a camera combo ... if I had to choose one in the world...it would have to be this...;

EVEN OVER MY FANTASTIC (NEWLY AQUIRED,CAMERA OF MY DREAMS)Panasonic GH1 with 7-14mm
That I must say;is living up to expectations !!!!!!!!!!

And a parting shot with 8400 combo;

and a VERY happy day to all...

Added note ; got my GH1 and 7-14 AND SHOT THE SAME BRIDGE ;
RESULTS !; my goodness - does this 8400 combo have better recliniar?
Shots are disterbingly similar.

If this sells(I should keep it)the new owner will have an artist tool in (his) hands.

I say, "I'm amazed ! . "

Hi Larry.

I just wanted to say that of the two railroad bridge shots I much prefer the last one (which I really like).

Thanks Reuben - I'll try to comply more.

Thanks Jim. This bridge is a one minute dive away...so a good place to try to get shots,and try en make em' different.

...but this is more of a sell forum - I'll try to comply - guess I could have done a thread in Coolpix.(But,I hope some enjoyed anyway...)
