"'Tis the season 2012!"

Hello Nikonians!

The first December after I joined Nikonians there was a gift swap in the WTS forum. I thought it was a great idea, and I still do. Wanna do it again this year?!!?

(For those of you who were in on it last year, yes this post is mostly cut-n-paste from last year's post. It's almost midnight here, and I'm tired. Give a girl a little holiday spirit, ok?

Please?

Here's how it works:

•You can have anything I'm offering here. All you have to do is pay me postage costs and I'll send it to you! with the understanding that

•You post something to give away (minimum one item for each item you "take"; sky's the limit in terms of how many items you can list).

•You don't have to "take" anything in order to post. You can just use this thread to clear out old stuff that it would be too much hassle to try to sell. You can always come back and "take" something later if you see something good.

•Somebody else "takes" your stuff, pays you postage, and you send it to them, provided that they post something of their own to give away.

•The limit of how much stuff you can "take" is determined by how much you list, not by whether or not anybody else has taken it yet.

•However, please post stuff that you really, in another phase of your life, given what you now know, would still WANT.

And on she goes. The more stuff posted, the more fun the thread gets!

Okay, I'll start:

  1. For all those of you who know somebody getting a "new" D80 for the holidays, I've got a stocking stuffer for you to add – a D80 Photobert CheatSheet, in like-new condition. I was planning to included it in the auction when I passed on my D80 (via me-Bay), but I couldn't find it. When I had a D80 I took the whole manual with me. I didn't get to the point where I knew it well enough just to take the CheatSheet with me, so it's honestly never been used. Very pretty and shiny still.

  2. I'll find more stuff to post here in the coming week. I just remembered the 'Tis-the-season swap just before retiring, and wanted to get it started right away. We're almost missing Hannakuh already!

If it's not already spoken for, I could use the D200 cheatsheet.

If someone can use it, I have an extra Type-E focusing screen for an F100. Nice one too....

Happy imaging to all and to all...good light.

I have a brand new after-market portable charger for a Nikon EN-EL9. It has a fold down US style plug, two prong Europe adapter and a 12 volt auto plug. An E-Bay vender sent it to me by mistake and didn't want it back.

Instead of sending me postage, I'll mail it to any US location to anyone who donates $5 or more to the Red Cross for Hurricane relief.

Hi Clint! Welcome to the gift swap!

You might need to remove the Thom Hogan guide however. We're not allowed to sell or trade e-books on the site, since it brings up tons of license issues that the site guru's have no way of checking. I know we're not paying for any of the stuff in this thread. Nonethelss there would be no way for the folks responsible for the site to check whether you've destroyed all copies of the CD before passing it along.

It seems – if I've read the guidelines correctly – that CD's which are an integral part of a package of something else (like the CD's that come with a camera, or the disks containing lesson data that come with some print books) are allowed, but not software or e-books that are products in their own right.

I'd like not to get the site in trouble.

Here are some more items up for grabs.

  1. two SD(HC)/CF adapters.
These allow you to use an SD or SDHC card in a CompactFlash apparatus (camera, image tank, etc.). I used them with my Joby Giga image tanks and also when I upgraded from a D80 to a D200: before I built up a supply of CF cards I could use my existing SD cards with my new camera.

Note: the adapters "turn" an SD card into a Type II CF card, the thick kind. Newer Nikon cameras (such as the D700) won't accept the Type II cards.

The red one has a faded patch on the label, no idea how it got there. But that's not glare, that's a faded bit of label.
You can take one or both. If you take both, that's two separate things for you to put up for grabs!

  2. a third-party Nikon lens cap

This cap has never been used. It's probably not worth the postage unless you're taking something else from my list as well — in which the additional postage will be nothing.

  3. a Holga HL-N lens-toy for Nikon cameras

I have no idea what kind of shape this lens is in, although it looks perfectly fine to me. I got it in a "kit" with my new dSLR. I'd planned to mess about with it, but who am I kidding … I'm not the type to get a big kick out of it and I can never find the time to play with the toys that I'm more interested in. Somebody else should get the chance to enjoy it.

  4. two containers of Dörr reusable modelling massa

This modelling stuff is made up of little beads that are sticky enough to stick together but not sticky enough to stay that way, so that you can use them to position items for still life and product photography, then ball it up and use it again. The container text is in German; I'll provide a translation.

For any who might be interested, postage for the SD(HC)/CF adapter to the US will be $2.50. Just so that nobody else is misled.

Batteries or a CheatSheet?

I can offer:

  • Two brand new EN-EL11 batteries in their original (albeit scruffy) gold boxes

  • one brand new EN-EL9 battery in its (likewise scruffy) original gold box

  • a Photobert CheatSheet for the SB-80DX speedlight

Here is a picture of one of the batteries:

We're heading into Christmas Day over here. I'll be back the day after to see how we're doing. For those of you who celebrate, I wish you a very blessed Christmas.

I'm offering the Shelly Cashman series textbook

Adobe Photoshop CS4: Introductory Concepts and Techniques.

This book has been read (by me ) but there are no notes written in the inside, and it has the original CD with data files. It IS a book, so it'll be $13.85 to ship, but that's still a heck of a lot cheaper than it is new.

As you can tell, I'm still cleaning out the mess of "to do" stuff in the corner of the living room. Gotta make room for the tree!!!

I really like this idea, so bumping the thread with the offer of some lens hoods.
1 Nikon HS-10 in fair condition, still works fine.
1 generic 58mm rubber hood with 58mm Sigma cap. I think I used this on a VL 58mm, so maybe 35-70mm range on FX cameras.

cheers,
Steven

Poor Lee. He accepted what I thought was an E screen for an F100. After mailing it, I get a message from Lee stating that the screen was made for an N90. Worst part is that the box had N90 printed right on it and I didn't notice it! I still feel bad about that. Sorry, Lee. I hope that you've found it in yourself to forgive me? Bill

Yes these kids are great, they ask so many questions and want to learn how to take pictues of all types. I have bought about 6 D50's here 2 D70s, 1 D80, and a D200 for the kids. I try to teach them that there is no bad pictures only Pictures that you think are good. You get to decied.

Speaking of Christmas, I am still looking for lens for the cameras, so they have a good lens for the bodys. I have some older lens but would like to offer better glass for each camera.

Right now I think I have 2ea 55-200 Tamron lens.

Any help would be great, I can't pay much, but I can pay.

Its for the Kids...

Thank you everyone in Nikon Land

Hey Tom,

I've got a 28-105 that I'm willing to donate to your project. It's got a few cleaning marks on the front element and it's jammed up a bit at the wide end, so it's effectively only a 34-105, but otherwise it works perfectly. Let me know if you're interested.

I've got a hard shell case that holds 4 Compact Flash cards. I'm guessing it's brushed aluminum and some sort of hard rubber inside with cutouts to hold each card. It's in very good condition as it never got much use: I've been using SD cards now for years.

$2.00 for shipping.

Hi all, bumping this thread one more time in appreciation and still offering:
1 Nikon HS-10 in fair condition, still works fine.
1 generic 58mm rubber hood with 58mm Sigma cap. I think I used this on a CV 58mm, so maybe 50-70mm range on FX cameras.
1 Pentax RH-RB 52mm, wide angle rubber hood in Ex condition.

And, I have a pile of vintage B&W filters w/cases, various sizes and types. PM with specific requests or for a list.

cheers,
Steven

Still refining my Nikon kit with D700, AF-S 24-120/4G, AF 35-70/2.8D, 85/1.4D, 80-200/2.8D and a pile of old MF lenses.
"Since my wife left can I use her closet to store lenses?"
