I just posted a listing in the I Want to Sell forum, but
cannot download the supporting jpeg photos because I keep
getting the following message:
Upload failed...the file you tried to upload exceeds the
maximum limit set by the administrator of this site. Please
I can't find the criteria for downloading images of what I
want to sell. I'd appreciate some guidance. Would it be
"legal" to post a link to the company that makes the
product which would show a photo of the product?

The criteria for uploading is contained in the body of the message that you received regarding the upload failure. If not, then the uploaded image should not be any larger than 800X800, I believe-although, I have seen lately where it's indicated that it can be as large as 1200X1200.
If you are using Photoshop, Lightroom, CaptureNX or any other program that will allow you to resize your image-then I'm certain that if you resize the image to the sizes mentioned above, you should not have any problems uploading.
I usually used 800X800 and the images upload without issue.
