"Capture NX 2 - 2.4.0 update available"

Dear Nikonians,

Just checked the Nikon Website and there's an update for Capture
NX2 -2.4.0.

Here's the link: http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18136.

Hope this helps.

Most of the changes have to do with the new CX cameras, underwater white balance, and a few bug fixes. Plus CNX2 is now confirmed to be Windows 8 compatible, but not touch screen usable.

"Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions
Support for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 J3 and Nikon 1 S1 has been added."

"The following modifications have been made to White Balance in the Camera Settings portion of the Develop section in the Edit List palette."

"Underwater can now be selected from New WB. However, Underwater can only be selected for RAW images captured with a camera that supports Underwater white balance."

"Resulting colors have been corrected when Flash was selected from New WB for RAW images captured with the Nikon 1 V2."

"An issue that, in some rare cases, prevented display of some JPEG images has been resolved."

"Additional modifications to the Windows version
Compatibility with 64- and 32-bit Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 8 Enterprise has been added.
Proper operation has been confirmed with use in desktop mode. Touch screen operations are not supported."

"Additional modifications to the Macintosh version
Support for high-resolution display on Macintosh computers with a built-in Retina display has been added. However, this applies only to image display in the image window."

I' installed it over v2.35 in Wind 7 64 bit and it seems to work just fine.

I've installed the update on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop with 8 GB of RAM. It seems to work well - maybe a little faster.

When I hit the search for updates under CNX2 I get the message saying that none are available (I'm at 2.3.5). Does one have to go the Nikon site to download?

Yes - you need to go to the Nikon Support site.

Search for Updates apparently does not actually check for updates - it just activates Nikon Message Center which obviously does not ever get the memo on a timely basis.

Good news!

It has fixed the compatibility issue with jpegs from other manufacturers cameras. One less (at least) step in my workflow from the P&S.
