"RAW Files"

Carrollton, US

I may have posted this to the wrong place....I need to get the NRW files from my P7700 to a RAW format to use in Photoshop. I do NOT like the Nikon Software. I have view NX2 and it will import the NRW files and convert them to JPEG but I need to be able to use photoshop to work on RAW Files from this camera. HELP.
Thanks.
Is Nikon trying to keep its customers from using Adobe Software? I hope not.

You probably know that Photoshop uses the Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) plug-in to read RAW image files. ACR version 7 supports NRW files from the P7700, but I'm pretty sure that no earlier version of ACR does. ACR 7 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6, so if you have an older version of Photoshop, I fear you will be out of luck.

There may be a way around it by converting to DNG, but I'll let those who know more about it follow that up

You can convert them to DNG using the free Adobe DNG converter and then edit them in older versions of Photoshop or Elements.

Blame Adobe not Nikon. I have a D800 and had PSE 9. I tried updating PSE 9 but it wouldn't accept D800 NEF files. I went on the Adobe forum and was told that I had to update to PSE 11 in order to be able to process D800 files. I found PSE 11 on sale at B&H for 49.99 so I bought it. Sale only lasted a few hours. Later that same day it was 69.99.
