When I had my D-80 and D-90 I used Nikon Picture Project to import my images from the SD card to my HD. They are mostly in consecutive files from #1 thru #222. That said when I got my D-7000 I used Nikon Transfer and have accumulated around 25 folders.
I also have many more folders containing images that I scanned into my PC from older slides.
When I am looking for a image it takes me too long to locate the file because I was not tagging , nameing my folders and images correctly (Hindsight). Because I have so many folders and images I have to now try and rename them so I can find the image I am looking for quickly. I read some where that I must be careful if I rename a folder or image because then the link will be lost to View NX-2, Bridge, Capture NX-2 and Lightroom. I am most hesitant to start this project as I don't really know where to start. I want to keep my folder structure but would like to properly title each one and include sub-folders.
Maybe some thing like this:
Year: 2012
Month: January
Event: Birthday Party
Vacation
Grand Children

Where do I start so as not to loose any links for both my Nikon View NX-2, and say Lightroom.? Is this possible? Hope you can make sense out of what I am asking.
Thanks in advance,
Eddie
