It worked just fine on my Win 7 64 bit platform. If you have not updated in a while what version were you running? To repeat, "This software updates Capture NX 2.2.6 to 2.2.7. Capture NX 2.2.6 must be installed before proceeding with this update"

Hello Dean, Nikon's updater is the worst ever! Every time I attempt to check for an update to NX I get a message telling me that connection the their server can not be made at this time. I suspect that they have no server. Any way, my NX is still ver. 2.2.0. I can't seem to locate a download for the 2.2.6. Any clues that you could pass on would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, I always use the link Gary has provided, also. You will need to install the 2.2.6 full version and then apply the 2.2.7 update. The updater may have pointed you to a new version at some point in the past and you may have selected some sort of ignore option. In any case, the updater will not point to the just released versions immediately. It works the same for many operating system service packs in my experience where the release is available on a demand basis prior to being pushed through the auto-update process.
>Thanks Rob Control Pro 2 has also been updated as well, and >is now 2.9.0
I have my system set up so images generated in Camera Control Pro2 are opened in ViewNX2. I just installed the 2.9.0 update, and I noticed quite a speed bump -- much faster than before. I wonder if I changed anything else? I had the camera set for 12-bit NEFs, and changed it to 14-bit, in both situations the download from the camera and subsequent view in ViewNX2 is much quicker than with the previous version..
Just updated both Capture and View to the new versions and all seemed to go well. Tinkered with them a bit and so far so good. The load times for both programs is about half the time it used to be. File updates in Capture when working with raw images seems faster.
