Gary still chicken I see. Believe me you can easily go to 1600 with no precivable noise. As you know I often shoot at 6400 and use NX2 noise control. Look at "Lipstick on a Fish" in my gallery, taken under terrible conditions.
Yes! You are right, I'm chicken alright! If I was not under pressure to get a good image from the daughter, I would have went higher,
Pre event, I got some great images using the 35mm 1.4 but when it came to the stage event, I found out quite soon that I am not as good as my old wedding days hand held, manual focus, even with the RB67 (40 years ago), I would have liked to shoot at least 1/250 with the 180,
I used to have a photographic memory but never got it developed
Gary I always use best method and edge noise reduction. As for sharpness I will normally just use the amount selected by NX2 as the number changes based upon the ISO you use. If that is not enough, I will adjust it a little to taste. SoI see you now survived 6400. Look at the post in the d700 forum about high ISO there is a link to a D700 set at 10000 ISO and the pictures are amazing.
