"ViewNX 2.1.1 - rotation causes image corruption"

Christchurch, NZ

Have a number of jpegs originating from scans of prints. Some of these needed to be rotated to correctly show them as portrait orientated images.

Using ViewNX 2, I selected the images requiring rotation and clicked "Rotate 90oCW". The thumbnails changed orientation but the thumbnail images became half grey and the images were not able to opened/viewed.

Other image programmes were also not able to display the "rotated" images. Therefore the files were seriously corrupted by the ViewNX 2 operation.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.6 and don't know if the problem also occurred on earlier versions of ViewNX 2.

Anyone else experience this error?

Thanks

Peter

Core2 Duo, 4Gb ram; external drive for cache files from ViewNX2
and CaptureNX2

Thanks for your reply Gary.

I cleared the ViewNX 2 cache and again tested the rotation function. This time the rotated thumbnails looked ok but attempting to full screen view the images resulted in a black screen.

The images I'm referring to are JPGs of 3 to 6 MB in size.

I next checked rotation with small JPGs of 100 to 400KB in size and the rotation worked correctly.

What size were the JPGs you tested the operation on?
