"Problem with CNX2..."not implemented" "

Goa, IN

My wife has been using CNX2 for several years and downloaded the newest 2.4.3 last month. We also now have the Nik Suite and she has CS6. Last week she was playing with Nik Color Efex and HDR. She was moving the images from CNX2 via mini bridge to CS6 then opening the Nik. She had no problem.

Yesterday she needed to get some kids birthday party pics done in a hurry so was just going to use CNX2 but she suddenly found that USM, Noise Reduction, and Special Effects said "not Implemented" if she clicks on any she gets the msg "Restart Application". We have searched the net and found others with the problem but does not appear to be wide spread and no one has said "Ah, that works" . Many have reported to Nikon and thus far none of the Nikon responses/advice have worked.

We took CNX2 off her machine and downloaded using the purchase key. We are not that IT confident so have not messed with the registry.

The problem seemed to occur after using Nik for sharpening, Colour and NR. She has some work arounds but she prefers to do most of her PP in CNX2. She is using a Vista 32 bit. I have had not problems with using the same setup on Win 7, 64 bit.

Any help will be most appreciated!
ps: funny, I found the "restart application" thread here while we were searching and I have had that problem
Cheers,
Tom

Tom I have not seen this problem, but I am running Win 8 64 bit now but was using win 7 64 bit. Sounds like something got corrupted. Deleting the program and reinstalling sounds like the right thing to do. Nikon has a tool that removes old instances of NX2. I don't recall the name but a call to tech support should get you access.

Tom,

Uninstall CNX-2, then run REG Sweep. Restart and then re-install CNX-2.

You should be able to get REG Sweep from the Nikon support page.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bob, I think you are referring to Regsweeper. That is probably the next step but so far the references in other posts has not found that to be the answer . I spent all day yesterday uninstalling and re-installing, bummer. I found Regsweeper but will wait for my wife to come home and download to her machine.

Interesting that most of the posts of the problem are coming from Europe (?) which is where our software is downloaded from.
Cheers,
Tom

Downloaded and ran regsweeper. Seemed to take everything off but strange, in program files the icons were still there but whn I clicked on them the only had regsweeper in the files.

Downloaded View NX again and CNX2 2.4.3. Problem still exists with the three items showing "not implemented" . I guess the next step is to take the Nik suite and CS6 off and see if the problem is still there . This is taking too much shooting time .

OK, taking Nik and CS6 off her machine did not work . On one of the forums where this problem was discussed someone said said to make sure you are running 32 bit CNX2. How do I check that????

When downloading viewNX you do download the 32 bit when you select download but not CNX2.

It was working fine with the previous CNX2 2.4.3.

For the moment she is using CNX2 to zero out the sharpening, get her levels and curves/LCH the she goes to CS6/Nik for sharpening and NR.
Cheers,

Yesterday my wife was working on some photos in CS6 and she asked me how to do a couple of things. I asked if she had used CNX2 and she said only to transfer to CS6. I told her that she should use CNX2 for changing the camera settings, ADL, LCH and auto corrections and then move it.

We opened an image with CNX2 and set the Pic controls back to neutral with 0 sharp (planning on Sharpening in CS6 or Nik) , did a quick levels and curves, used 2012 NR and for the nuts of it I clicked on a new step and went to 'Focus' . The not implemented was gone and it worked fine.

On the 14th I had made about 20 recommended updates (any that involved Frameworks/Vista system/ etc.) to her machine but that did not solve the problem. When she turned off her machine the evening of the 17th she had the standard msg not to turn off her computer, it was making 3 updates. I checked to see what updates and they were all Security. So I am no closer to knowing what was causing the problem but it has disappeared .

The plus side is we've learned more about using CS6 and Nik but she is very happy to have CNX2 back.
