#3. "RE: dbreview on the D800 and switching from Canon to Nikon" In response to In response to 0
Hi Daniel Used to read some of your writings over the years on the Canon side. I've been shooting canon since mid 70's when I bought the first SLR to incorporate digital... an LED display (big thing back then) and I too have gone to the dark side... ummm. well now the brighter side. I have not done it for the same reasons; don't do much video and the 7D video was ok but for ease of use, still preferred my Canon HV20. For me it was that I have always liked FF but I am a zoom lover and the 1.6 crop factor has always made me happy but yet envious of those portraits or landscapes from a FF camera and never wanted to carry 2 bodies. This is the first camera that gives me best of both worlds and lots of cropability on images.
There is definitely a learning curve moving from one brand to another especially with all the knobs and buttons you referred to but with a little practice it will become as second nature as it was changing cameras virtually each time a new improved model came out.
As you said there is no perfect camera and each system have their pluses and minuses but at least they keep heading in the right direction.
Look forward to more of your writings and enjoy the D800, I know I am...
