LV view is very good for close focusing, but not AF close focusing. Close focus subjects is a very good use of Live View in Manual focus mode. You can zoom into see fine detail that will show out of focus conditions more than a optical view finder. For AF problem targets see page 47 of the user manual.
Metering is different for Live View than for View Finder mode because they use different methods of sense the light levels of a scene. LV uses the sensor itself because the mirror is up and therefore not reflecting light towards the metering sensor. VF mode will be more accurate for scenes, LV is closer in readings to Spot metering in VF mode. The eyepiece shutter should be closed for Live View or else light entering the eyepiece will fall on the metering sensor and cause the reading to be inaccurate. Stan St Petersburg Russia
