I would have to say this is a very interesting point you seem to be making.
I have read reviews and which, I agree with state this camera tends to over expose. In my opinion the exposure control system is VERY sensitive and dependant on the in camera adjustments. Now I know this is a blatent contradiction to what you and others state, but I want to highlighht that to correct over exposure I have only adjusted the EV to -3, which is very little and my experience with use of my camera tells me this doesnt need to be altered again. So all I am saying is for example do you have a UV filter on constantly for protection and the slight elimination of haze acheived by the UV filter? Do you use any other filters WITH that? I know you have probalby gon through all that but I just cant beleive it under exposes and thats all I am saying. You state you are using it in AP mode and have saved settings in the two 'U' alocations. So you basically have gon through a lot with this probaly to start with. I also tend to use AP most of the time.
In short I would love to take a look through the camera set up that you have and see how yours compares to my one as far as results go. Send me a message if you wnat to ask specific stuff and I can flip through and we can comapre if you like? I have some shots taken in low light, posted and I think you can probably read what the settings were-just for example.
