The time it took most likely didn't have much to do with the write speed of the card.

You said Long Exposure NR was on which means long exposures will have a dark frame of equal time taken for the fixed pattern noise subtraction. The EXIF on the image you posted states about a 24 second exposure. Which means the total time before you can take another shot would be slightly more than 48 seconds.
