ME is for overlaying multiple images into one shot.

Bracketing varies exposure over 3 shots and you need to combine these in post-processing with an algorithm more complicated than what ME does.

If you just want your camera to fire off the bracket, turn on bracketing and set release mode to continuous (Cl or Ch) and then hold down the shutter release (preferably remote release so you don't shake the camera). The camera will fire the 3 shots, and you'll get 3 images which you'll need to combine in post-processing with an HDR program.
