I went from a Meike grip to a genuine MB-D11. The Meike never connected reliably to the camera and ended up dinging several of the socket contacts. When it worked, it was decent for the money - controls were oriented correctly.
I've found the MB-D11 to be much more solid when installed - no wiggles or rattles as with the Meike. The controls are more pleasant to use as well - the dials feel nicer and the directional pad is much stiffer (similar to the one on the body). It just feels more like a part of the camera instead of something piggybacked onto it.
