Jason France from yellowwagonphoto@hotmail.com answered my concern by e mail:

-------------

The switch for manual and autofocus next to the lens mount (now has a AF mode setting) button (in the center). Push the button and rotate the selector to 39 points. Then you can move the button on the back of the camera to the point you desire.

That should do it! Took me awhile also to find that!

--------------
Thank you, Jason!

My experience:

You must turn the front (or "sub-") command dial to switch the number of engaged sensors from one to 11 to 39; before Jason's advice, I only had been turning the rear "master" command dial btw AF-A, -S and -C!

And the menu only chooses btw 11 and 39, not really giving an explanation how that would affect the single sensor selection.

Will reread the manual but honestly don't think any of this is explained on the focus pages (p 91 + or so, from memory.)

And so to bed, will do my stupid LensAlign trick (using an old ruler at 45 degrees) tomorrow.
