Well all's well that ends well - got camera back as mentioned. My daughter-in-law couldn't wait and took the plunge with a pair of tweezers!

The mirror was locked up but with a bit of gentle probing it dropped back down. Camera works perfectly well so the risk paid off.

Thanks for your advice. Don't think I would have been so brave if it was my camera.
