The hyperfocal distance will probably also work. However, I would set the focus in much deeper since the fireworks will be more distant.

For example, for this series I prefocused on the Space Needle while the fireworks are a mile or so beyond it. But at f/11, the depth of field more than covers it.



For folks shooting at a closer distance than "across the bay", getting the focus distance right will help some. But deep into the hyperfocal distance should do a reasonable job.
