Hi Joseph and thanks for your answer. This is exactly my goal, of course, and I'll do just as you're advising me to.
I was just trying to find a neat trick to resume my numbering so that it would be consistent, and reading the documentation, I thought it was possible, but I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this, I just (kinda) hate it when I don't understand something. The little child in me, I suppose, haha.

As I'm a Linux guy, I'll use a little utility called "exiv2" (available on Windows as well by the way) to rename all my files.
