Getting back to the issues you have described in this and other threads, I tend to agree with others that you seem to be trying to over-complicate things. The D5000 is a very capable camera, even when left to its own devices in AUTO or one of the scene modes. Why not put everything back to the factory default settings and start from there? We'll still be here to help when you're ready to take the next step.
