Thanks everybody. I tried it again tonight on manual and underexposed it by a stop or more. It helped. But I am getting a strange glow, especially of the white t shirts. You can kind of see it in the picture up top as well. Basically at the edges of the shirt there is a white glow. It may happen on other colors as well but I did notice it a lot on the white shirts. In the end, is getting good night shots under the soccer field lights going to be tough with the d90? Even underexposing, the detail on the faces wasnt there. Or maybe it's because I'm using the 50mm and I'm having to crop to fill the frame more? Maybe I will try the 70-200 and see if it makes a difference. It's strange because when you are looking out at the field it seems as bright as day but of course to the camra it's dark.
