Hi Randy,
I don't know the answer to your question, but the camera dealer here in Okinawa, Japan has told me that the first bach of D700's will be made in Japan. They will later be passed off to the Thailand facility. I had him call and check again and he says that it was confirmed. Hope he's correct...... I'll know for sure in another 20 days when my D700 shows up.
