I have a D700 that I've had for a few years.absolutely great camera from landscapes to sports to portraits it has worked great. As an all around camera its hard to beat. I bought a D800E when they came out, it too is a great camera, lacks a little for sports but the resolution for landscapes and portraits and wildlife more than make up for the lack of framerate for sports. That being said if I only could have one camera it would be the D800E, because of the video. If the D700 had video I would never have purchased the new camera. If your budget permits buy the D800 otherwise the D700's are a real bargain.
