I called Nikon Canada tech support, they said it would probably cost $350-$450 to repair with 6 month warranty. They wouldn'tsay whether they had seen this problem happen before. I didn't think to ask for a partial refund because by that time the seller did not hesitate to fully refund me. DOH!
