Grays have just announced that they will be taking delivery of their first batch of D700 tommorrow - Friday 25th July.

What is surprising is the wording of their announcement. "To be one of the first to own this brilliant new Nikon camera, please call us straight away. Demand for this new Full-frame Nikon DSLR is running very high, and we have a large number of back-orders, but if you would like to contact us as soon as possible, we will aim to accommodate your request"

From the sounds of that it seems they expect to have a few spare bodies even after they have filled their pre-orders. Not sure if that's indicative of low pre-orders or a much higher allocation of bodies than expected.
