That is an interesting view about representation. My background is in engineering so I've always considered myself on the technical side. I've been shooting for almost thirty years but only seriously and trying to learn as much as I can for a year and a half. In all that time I've never considered myself an artist. you are correct that when we push the shutter release we are trying to capture our vision of the reality.
