I agree with John.
The film and photographic paper are not the medium they are only substrates. An image shot with a digital camera and printed using an ink jet printer (or even just displayed on a screen) is just as much a photograph as anything captured on film.
To limit the definition of photography to only include film and photographic papers is like limiting the definition of painting to include only oil based paint applied to canvas.
