The confirms nothing... except that there was earlier speculation. My own opinion is that this won't be 36MP, or even close.

We're getting to the point in the timeline when the rumors tend to get a little more accurate. The rumor of a 36MP sensor built off of a Sony rumor, though, and more recent Sony rumors seem to be backing off of the 36MP number. The AA-filter/no AA-filter rumor just strikes me as too bizarre for even Nikon's marketing department.

So right now, I'm just along for the ride, but I may one of the few people planning to buy a D800 that's hoping the 36MP rumor is bogus.
