Well, the clock is ticking, it's just over 24 hours until the end of the year. Typically, December 31st is a day full of lasts for me...
The last good meal - there are organic, free-range, always slept on fresh straw New York strip loins from the local butcher - who only sells local meat, including fact sheets about how wonderful the neighbouring farmer is, and how wonderful the cow's life was - chilling in the fridge for tomorrow's dinner, along with all the 'fixins, including 3 types of mushrooms, to be sautéed - I love mountains of buttery mushrooms on my steak. A good Cab, probably my last wine for a very long time, will be opened.
The last real drinks - probably a single malt, and/or beer in the afternoon, the Cab mentioned above for dinner, a port for after, and champagne to toast the New Year - but not a drop after midnight!
The last day of being a couch potato - of not having daily, prolonged, strenuous and painful aerobic exercise, the last day of spending an afternoon reading, watching TV, surfing the net or snoozing.
The last day of acquiring more photography paraphernalia, not a cent will be spent on that hobby in 2012 (except for the one item I'm currently the top bidder for, on ebay).
And then, there's the wonderful first day, January 1st... when life gets a lot simpler!
So, my dear Nikonian friends, thanks for a wonderful year, and here's wishing all of you a wonderful 2012, with lots of great photography - not to mention good health and happiness!
You will be seeing a leaner, meaner avatar of yours truly posted, in due course!
Cheers,
