Hi everyone! I'm new to the list (been lurking about a week before signing up). Bo, JRP and the rest of you are doing a great job!
Let's see..what about me... I'm 32 and live in Southern NJ. I live 2 minutes from cornfields and not smokestacks and NYC. I'm pretty much a serious amateur. My story seems a little backwards. While a lot of people go from film to digital, I'm going the opposite way! Next thing you know, I'll be buying a view camera! My first camera? Probably some 110 camera with flashcubes. I do remember having a disc camera at one point in time (but I'm trying really hard to erase that part of my memory!).
My girlfriend and I went hiking on Mt. Charleston (near Las Vegas) two years ago. I fell and broke my Olympus point and shoot. When I took it in to have to repaired, I found that it would cost me as much as buying a new one so I let it go to the great scrapyard in the sky. I then started looking at digitals. I bought an Olympus C-2000 with the promise that I would learn more about photography. A month later, my girlfriend bought one. We both shared a common interest in photography and this was something we both could spend time doing together. A year ago, we went to Nikon School (very impressive show, btw).
Come summer, we decided to get back into film. I went and bought an F100 and the 28-105mm lens. A month later I got a deal on an SB-26 that I could not refuse. From then on, I had to budget film into monthly expenses!
Currently, I am tackling developing B&W on my own. Last fall, we went to Acadia NP and I shot a roll of Delta 100. I really liked what I saw but I didn't like the price of someone developing it for me ($20 a roll! Ouch!). I haven't done a whole lot of it yet but am looking forward to doing more.
Enough of my ramblings! I'm glad to be here. Hopefully, I can help you guys (and gals) out as much as you will be teaching me!
