"Adelie penguin with chick"

Philadelphia, US

Here's an Adelie penguin with chick in center next to rock in the Brown Bluff, Antarctica, rookery. (The chick is all black.)

Brown Bluff is a tuya located at the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. A tuya is a type of distinctive, flat-topped, steep-sided volcano formed when lava erupts through a thick glacier or ice sheet. They are somewhat rare worldwide, being confined to regions which were covered by glaciers and had active volcanism during the same period.

Brown Bluff is an "Important Bird Area" (IBA) because it supports a breeding colony of about 20,000 pairs of Adelie Penguins, and about 550 pairs of Gentoo Penguins.
