I have limited experience w off camera flash. I have never had a problem getting the flash to fire indoors.
The other day I decided to set up off camera flash outside to capture shots of my bird feeder. I used an SB700 on a light stand and put my camera in comander mode. I had difficulty getting the flash to fire. Is using the camera's pop up flash to remote trigger not recommened outdoors? Do I need a radio trigger?
I also have a vivitar flash I tried to use in slave mode this also would not fire.
I could get both flashs to fire when I got within a few feet of the flash but I wanted to fire from approximately 20 feet behind and slightly to the side of the flash.
