The thing that concerns me about your comment is that you said "this evening". You would almost never shoot fill flash under artificial lights unless they are 1) very very bright and 2) they match the color of the flash. This is so rare that I cannot remember ever doing it.
Fill flash is used almost exclusively outdoors in daylight.
Normally, under artificial indoor light, you would shoot flash primary. For flash primary, you would put the camera in Manual mode, ISO 400, f/4.5, 1/80th, and the flash in regular TTL. Then, the flash provides all of the exposure.
