You do get free software as mentioned by others. Nikon View and Nikon Edit (both free) work well, so does Picture Project (also free), when you load Picture Project or Edit they will also put a plug in into Photoshop (if you have it) for free to allow you basic RAW manipulation with that program. Of course you can also download the free version of Raw Shooter Essentials from Pixmantic if you want something more sophisticated. If you want to pay you have the choice of products from Nikon, Pixmantic, Apple (Aperture) or Breeze. If Capture was included there would be plenty of complaints here about peoples perception that they were paying for Capture within the price of their cameras and did not want it. I can remember somebody suing Toshiba a few years ago because he wanted a notebook with no OS so he could load Linux and Toshiba wouldn't sell him one. He won the case. The same thing would probably happen if Capture were included with Nikons.
