>I read on Ken Rockwell's site that the D40 has a defective meter, and should leave the exposure compensation to -0.7. I wanted to see what the general thoughts were on this.

Have you checked which way the KR wind is blowing smoke?

>Is this something everyone agrees with you? Should I do this? I take 95% of my pictures indoors.

Experience will indicate this. You can always check your histogram and lost highlights.

>Also, when using a flash (like the sb-600) would I still want to do this?

Flash exposure is computed independently from the ambient light exposure. So if your flash is the majority of illumination (more than 2 f stops of illumination), ambient illumination does not come into play.
