If you find some spare cash between the seat cushions consider a long term goal of getting the f1.8 G primes to go with the 35. The 50 is great with even better resolving power than the twice as expensive 50 1.4. The real find of of the series is the 85 1.8G which is excellent by any measure and is 95% of what the famous Cream Machine 85 1.4 is for 1/4 the price. There is also a new 28 1.8G but it might not be as useful as these three;35, 50, 85. I know a lot of peope who gave up on mid zooms and shoot entirely with these great value 1.8G lenses.
