Found this one though and it's quite comprehensive. http://www.ifixit.com/Device/Nikon_D70 Followed the instructions and found that my ribbon cable was fully seated as it should be. Took it out and reseated it anyway but no dice... I'll get an estimate then see if I should be looking for a used D90 or something to replace it with.
I've been crossing my fingers on the shutter thing, but it was the card circuitry that has failed first. It was a great little camera. I used to shoot portraits and make very large prints from it. Nothing lasts forever.
