Hi Mark,

Yes!
Since he is used to cameras with both Command & Sub-Command dials a D70/D70s is an excellent choice. Add to that the AF motor built into the camera body providing full support with All Nikon F mount AF lens. It also has Commander mode. All it all a very capable body.
I can transition between my D70s and my F100 or F5 film bodies or my D_00 series, or D_ series bodies without missing a beat.
