If I understand what you're saying, I should not use AUTO for ASA, but rather set it manually (if I get the drift then let's say in sunny daylight to 100, cloudy day - 200, and in dark situations up to 800).

I'm less sure I understand the comment about aperture selection. In P mode, the camera should select that for me, right?. In A mode, I can select the aperture, so if I understand you, I should not select tool large apertures when I'm in A mode?
