"Shutter speed reversion in manual"

Rockville, US

Any thoughts- when I shoot in manual, after taking my shot, the D700 changes the shutter speed to a setting other than what I have selected causing me to reset after every shot. I scoured the internet and found many having the same issue on their D7oo's and D800's. I contacted Nikon and they said (without a great deal of confidence) that I have to set the lens to manual- it sounded wrong to to me but I did it and, as expected, it didn't work (I should go to the rear of the class, I actually tried it with 4 different lenses). Thanks in advance for any input.

It may simply be that you have Exposure Bracketing engaged. There have been no reports of a general problem with the camera altering the shutter speed.

Thanks- I think you are right- although I did not do any bracketing, I reset the over/under number to zero- and I think that solved the problem.
