I sure expected it. I mentioned on the night of release that Nikon were going to sell these by the truckload. And they are. And if Canon doesn't get their butt in gear pronto, they are going to be sucking Nikon's fumes for a LONG time.

I predict the demand for the D800 will stretch Nikon to it's very limits. To be fair, the camera is under priced, and I think that is what is driving this massive demand. It SHOULD be about a grand more than what they are asking. Even if the price comes down later. Though we know why the price is where it is.

Considering the price, it may be enough to convert some Canon shooters to Nikon. That is, if Nikon can make them fast enough.
