Played with these Raw files.... looks good with some PP.... campared them to a D3x for detail and the D800 wins..... I would hope so... lol can't wait to get my D800E...
Followed link and made these crops to show small difference between D800 and D800E:
Full image (from the E down sized to see whole frame easier):
D800E 100% crop just above statue:
D800 100% crop same spot:
Crops made in CaptureNX2, I did not shoot these and did not PP these at all just showing difference is all. Very small... I did try to sharpen D800 to match D800E and took about 10% Intensity with a 5% Radius 0 for Threshold... looked about the same afterwards. But if you do the same to the D800E pic, get even sharper....

The pictures are so outstanding that they can be intoxicating. Quite impressive. I was on the fence as whether to upgrade or not; to the 800 from the D7000. That is over. I am buying a ticket on the train of modernization. Awesome results.
First thing for me is that I will need to upgrade my Apple computer from 4GB of RAM to 16 or more considering file size.
I am looking forward to more photos from others when everyone gets their hands on their D800's. Thanks for the insight.
