Will the new D7000 drive autofocus on lenses that don't have AF-S? I'm particularly interested in the 80-400mm lens.

Absolutely, it supports lenses with a 'screw drive' AF and it even has an AI index tab to allow you to use AI spec. lenses (well up to 9 of them anyway). http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond7000/page5.aspJason
Great! So why would anyone wait to pre-order the D7000? In fact, it's also terrific for another reason. In contemplation of a trip to Antarctica, I got a small digital camera to photograph the antics of penguins. But the D7000 video will blow away my little camera.

>Great! So why would anyone wait to pre-order the D7000? Lack of money?Waiting to see some real life reports of the sensor/camera?Letting Nikon ironing v1.00 kinks out?Having said that, the specs look very promising./Martin
