"D7000 NEFs Supported in NX2 2.2.5?"

Does the current version of NX2 support the D7000 NEF format, or do we need an update?
If so, I'm sure one will be available by the time the camera is shipping, but sometimes it's nice to be able and wait to see how an update pans out.

Almost certainly it won't be supported by anything that's already shipping.

Well, I remember that Nikon once shipped a new DSLR (I've no memory now which one) that was supported by the then-current version of Capture - no update was necessary.

That's why I said "almost certainly." I'll guess what happened was that the camera was intended to ship earlier than it did, but then slipped. And as I recall, somebody had also disassembled the Capture code and noticed the new model number, too, partially letting the cat out of the bag.

Actually, there's a simple answer to my question. (I feel a bit 'Duh'!) The Nikon US site lists under 'Software' for the D7000 both NX2 and ViewNX2. For each program the D7000 is listed under 'Compatible With', with no qualifier as to having to wait for a new version.

If Capture NX2 or View NX2 does not support the D700, it will be the first to do so and Nikon does not charge for the minor version, dot, updates.
