I have just gotten my MB D11 Grip ( plus my really fun toy 105 mm 2.8 Micro ) Must say its very comfortable and im glad i didnt get a cheaper knock -off version why would i put a cheapo on my great camera!! any way i have been using my AE-L/AF-L button for auto focus as opposed to using the shutter release button. It works great and love the separation it gives me from the shutter button. For some reason it works on the camera but not on the MB D11 grip any thoughts as to what setting i am missing or is this combo not possible on the grip ???

As it is a different button from the AE-L/AF-L button you are using on the camera body, Nikon has given us a separate menu item to configure it. Look for f10 "Assign MB-11 AE-l/AF-L Button" and configure it for AF-ON.
