Just read a posting at Nikon rumors showing the pics of the D7000 kits. Here is an excerpt of what they posted.

Several readers were able to buy the D7000 from Best Buy today. Many stores will get in trouble for not keeping their sells embargo (October 17th). I could not even see the camera in my local Best Buy and they had several in stock. I even talked to the manager and they told me to come back on Sunday.

Somebody posted some ISO 6400 pictures on Flickr. They're starting to get in peoples hands! First impressions of the camera are very good.

I bought a D7000 kit at Bb this afternoon. My first impression can be summarized in one word...WoW!
The AF is very fast. I posted a few test shots at high iso in my gallery. The images are not very good, still getting used to the camera, and have no feel for ViewNX. I shot in NEF and converted to jpeg w/o any PP.

I expect to take my time and see what the camera can do, but the camera really feels good in my hand, and now that I have spent some time with the manual and set some of the settings, I'm ready to play with the D7000 tomorrow.

According to many who visited Best Buy, most stores are honoring the release date of Sunday but hundreds have already been sold in stores in the chain that seem to not know they are not officially on sale yet. Best bet is to stop by and ask a salesman who i eager to make the commission, a phone call might get the official line of Sunday.
A few dozen to posters on DPR, many getting the 12% discount offered via an on-line coupon.
All comment that the AF is very fast but no real tests. Some of the images posted at 12k are very impressive. One poster had 100% crops of the same subject with D7000 and D700 and they are darned close. By tonight there should be some more careful tests done by more experienced users.
Seeing the initial demand, Canon must be less than happy about the poor reception their 60d has gotten. If the D7000 had not been released, the 60d would have seemed pretty impressive.

Woo-hoo! I get to cure my multi-year NAS disease (temporarily). I called and they have their only one set aside for me. Running to BB right now with a 12% off coupon and $600 in reward certificates. Nothing like a deal at BB!

I bought mine early this morning at the BB in Athens, GA. I used the 12% off coupon and with tax paid about 1420.00. I have been playing with the D7k ever since and... it is very nice. I am going to miss the battery grip on my D90, but I will wait for one to come out for the D7k and get it.

After playing with this a little all that I can say is... D90 FOR SALE .

I just called our local BB and they advised three kits on the floor, ready for purchase. The sales rep related the body only would not be available in store. He indicated the body only is usually an internet order.
I have been waiting with much anticipation, just like everybody else, but have no reason to purchase the kit lens.

If you use the 12% off coupon the total is 1320 plus tax. That is about 200 dollars for the kit lens. You can easily sell it for that or more on ebay...

YES! Just returned from the Best Buy in Louisville WITH the last D7000! Ha, I even printed out the 12% off coupon and used it, now I have 18 months to pay this off interest free!! I'm a happy camper, I feel like a kid at Christmas. =) I also got the 2 year accident warranty since I'm taking this baby to Afghanistan.

edit: Interesting tidbit... since the D7000 early release today the D3100 has dropped to $669 from Adorama.

It didn't take long, for the hell of it I did a quick check.... 2 kits sold on ebay in the 1650 range...

Now that I have a D7000, I see that I can't add it to "My Profile" yet. I had to select "Other."

So far, so sweet. Although, going from a Sony CD Mavica, to a Cannon P&S, to a Nikon D7000, yeah, that's pretty sweet in and of itself.

Sorry, just assumed that they were because whenever I went in to look at higher ticket items the salesperson would give me their card and insisted that I ask for them, and would write down their workdays/hours. In every other business that does that the salesman is given some sort of benefit from sales.

So, I picked up the D7000 at best buy yesterday and have had no problem using it with Nikon AF-S lenses, but today I picked up my 24-70mm sigma (non hsm) and the camera will not even turn on with it installed.

Does anyone else have the D7K or know what could be the problem.

It doesn't even give the f-- error, the camera simply will not work with it installed, but I can take the lens off and put it straight on my D90 or D80 without any problem at all.

Does anyone know why or have a solution?

Not to be sorry, I have done business with their chain and that came up in factoring where wholesale would land.

Otherwise, I'd guess they were on commission as well having been in MI Retail where commission is the rule.

Sounds like contacts need to be cleaned, Caig or Eclipse etc very, very lightly placed on a non scratching micro-electronics type of swab.

But, it's brand new after all.

I don't know it works with all of my Nikon lenses but, non of my aftermarket (tamron, sigma) lenses. Hmmm. Strange.

This would be an interesting and unwelcome development - a new Nikon body that does not AF with third-party lenses? It would really help if someone else can test for this...

Dunno if true, but conceivably we would then have to send third-party lenses in for updates to their chipping. Something along these lines has happened before. Sorry for the speculation, the actual problem may be much more simple.

Just read another report of not working with any non-af-s. It is a localized issue on a few cameras.

When I install a sigma/tamron lens the camera turns into a brick.

My Tokina 11-16 seems to work fine with the D7000.

Both of my Sigma lenses work fine on my D7000 as does my ProMaster.

Well, returned to best buy. No replacement available until November 15th. So got my money back. I think I may just buy a d300s and forfeit the additional mega pixels...

Which Sigma Lenses are working fine with your D7000? I have three Sigma's 24-70MM works fine, 10-20MM works fine, 105MM Macro when connected to the camera, it will not turn on??

I have a Sigma 10-20mm, f/4-5.6 DC HSM and it works fine on the D7000.
