Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the SLR world and so far l love it. I have received advice from a few friends, as well as from many posts on these forums, that the 50mm 1.8 would be a great lens to add to kit. I know that the 50mm will not AF with the D3000, but metering will still work, my question is, while somewhat meniscal, will the focus indicator still light up in the viewfinder once the picture is in focus? or does that go by the wayside with the AF? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi Mark,

yes, the focus indicator will still light up in the viewfinder once the picture is in focus.

The focus indicator works whether you are doing the focusing or the AF mechanism is doing it.
