Back in the days of film, if one wanted to aim the camera through the lens (as compared to a viewfinder on top of the camera or a second lens, mirror and ground glass), one had to have a shutter and a swinging mirror. But today, with digital image sensors, we have the ability to mount a small tv in the viewfinder and see exactly what the image sensor is seeing. So why are we still fooling around with the slamming a mirror around for each pic and a mechanical shutter. Why not take the electronics of, let's say, a d800 and marry them to the electronics of a v1 inside the 800 body. It would eliminate the need for critical "tuning" of the focusing sensor to match up with the imaging sensor, eliminate a source a vibration, and allow faster continuous shooting. What is the big advantage of retaining all the mechanical stuff?
